Ongwediva Town Council handed over the site for construction of a modern soccer pitch at the town.
The Mayor of Ongwediva Mr Taarah Shalyefu announced in the just-tabled budget of the year 2024/25 that phase 4 of the construction of a multi-purpose sports complex comes with a price tag of N$4,3 million.
The construction of the sports field is one of the many capital projects running at the town which will cost the town a combined N$57,4 million, representing about 30% of the total budget of 2024/25.
Windhoek Consulting Engineer, as a consultant and ROHA Trading cc as the contractor, will do the soccer pitch’s earthworks, irrigation and substitute drainage.
Acting corporate communications officer at Ongwediva Town Council, Penda Kashihakumwa, said that this is the commencement of the construction of a new state of the art sports complex that is valued at N$5 million.
“This marks a pivotal moment in the town’s development and commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities for its residents and visitors alike,” Kashihakumwa said.
The sport complex is being built at the town’s Extension 17.
