Ohangwena Athletics Club has praised NamWater for making their journey to Potchefstroom, South Africa, a reality.
The club said that NamWater has pulled its financial muscles by helping 22 athletes to enable them to participate in the upcoming NWU Top 30 Athletics Championships in Potchefstroom from 10 to 12 October 2024 in the McArthur Stadium.
“Namwater helped the team to pay off their accommodation which is at N$44,600.00. This gesture came at the right time as the team was preparing to travel and participate without accommodation as we were planning to camp at the police station in Potchefstroom,” said Ohangwena Athletics Club marketing and communication manager Mr Moses Teofelus.
“We really want to thank the entire management of Namwater for seeing this as an important gesture to help the young athletes who are trying hard to qualify for 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar Senegal ,and 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, USA.
“We really want to thank Namwater for this noble gesture towards sport development in Namibia particularly athletics.”
Teofelus stated that this is a developmental programme which was initiated by Ohangwena Athletics Club to give opportunity to young athletes in discovering their potential.
“The team would also love to thank LMH Investment cc for dressing the team with t-shirts, as well as Interpack Namibia for giving water to the team, and we would also want to thank individuals who have contributed in any kind.”
The traveling team consists of athletes from Ohangwena, Oshana, Oshikoto and Omaheke.
