Okongo, a local authority with a village council status, is slowly growing to become an emerging town with infrastructural development.
Situated in the eastern part of Ohangwena Region, some 99 kilometres from Eenhana, the regional capital, Okongo is becoming not only a hub for business activities as the gateway to Kavango West and farther afield, but also a residential haven for those who have small incomes yet they want to own houses in a town.
In the picture is a few rows of houses built through the Shack Dwellers Federation, a programme that assists residents with low income who live in shacks, to borrow some money and build their two-bedroom houses.
