Barely one year and half at Namibia’s development bank, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Development Bank of Namibia, Dr John Steyter, has left.

DBN announced on 11 March 2025 the resignation of its CEO, Dr John Steytler, effective immediately.

“Dr. Steytler has decided to pursue new interests and opportunities. The Board would like to express its appreciation for the commitment and drive with which Dr. Steytler lead DBN during his tenure,” Ms Evangelina Nailenge, Chairperson of the Board, said.

“Dr. Steytler has served as CEO since September 2023 and has made a marked impact on the Bank. We thank him for his service and dedication and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Nailenge added that the Development Bank of Namibia will continue fulfilling its mandate and serving its clients with the singular aim of contributing to Namibia’s developmental agenda and socioeconomic growth.

“The Board will commence with the recruitment process of the substantive CEO immediately. In the interim, Mr. John Mbango, Head of Coverage and Large Transactions, a seasoned executive, will act as CEO of the Development Bank until further notice.”
