President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Mrs Inge Zaamwani to be the new Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Land Management.

Zaamwani replaces Mr Mac Albert Hengari who a week ago resigned from the agricultural ministerial position as he is embroiled in a case involving a young woman who has accused him of sexual offences and other crimes.

Zaamwani was sworn-in today by Chief Justice Peter Shivute at State House during a brief ceremony attended by top government officials.

Zaamwani also replaced Hengari in the National Assembly where he also served as a presidential nominee.

Nandi-Ndaitwah decribed Zaamwani as a child of the struggle, who will serve with dedication and commitment as minister for sectors which are critical to the economy such as agriculture, fisheries and land.

Although she was now appointed to the agriculture portfolio, Zaamwani was known for her long tenure as the Managing Director of Namdeb from 1999 to 2015.
