The Oshakati Totem Expo is back after skipping the year 2024, and this time it is bigger and better.

This was said by the organisers of this expo, which celebrates culture, unity and heritage.

The Oshakati Town Council announced the 13th edition of this exposition, set to take place from 31 May to 7 June 2025 at the Oshakati Independence Stadium.

First hosted in 2012, the Oshakati Totem Exposition has become a major cultural event in Namibia’s northern regions, each year drawing 25 000 visitors who include local communities, tourists, cultural enthusiasts, businesses and government representatives.

“The exposition celebrates the rich traditions, indigenous knowledge, and totems that form the foundation of community identity,” said Oshakati’s spokesperson Ms Katarina Kamari.

“It serves as a vibrant platform for cultural preservation, community engagement, and tourism promotion while highlighting the vital role of heritage in strengthening unity and pride.”

This year’s totem expo will consist of new and old offerings such as the opening musical bash, cultural groups praising and dancing competition, the Miss Womalenga Beauty pageant, the boxing bonanza, Oxungi, Totem Expo singing competition, Dance competition, Mss Totem Beauty pageant and Mr Totem Bodybuilding show, and the closing musical bash.

The expo will also be a platform for businesses to showcase their products and services.

The Oshakati Totem Expo Gala Dinner takes place on 10 May 2025, where Prime Minister Dr Elijah Ngurare will be the keynote guest.
