Ten unemployed young Namibians will get a free opportunity to turn barbering into a livelihood when Joe Fades Cut launches the second intake of its youth skills-development programme which will be open to applicants from 18-28 September 2026.
The one-month fully funded training programme, delivered through the Joe Fades Cut Foundation, is aimed at equipping young people with practical barbering, customer service and basic business skills to help them create employment opportunities for themselves.
The training will take place in Windhoek.
The initiative forms part of the Joe Fades Cut Foundation’s commitment to giving back to the community that has supported the growth of the Namibian-owned grooming brand.
“As a truly Namibian brand, we have grown because of the support we receive from our community,” said Joe Fades Cut founder, Joel Mwatilefu.
“We believe that growth comes with a responsibility to give back, and one of the most meaningful ways we can do that is by investing in people and skills.”
The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on barbering experience under the guidance of experienced professionals.
In addition to technical barbering skills, trainees are exposed to customer service, professional conduct and basic business skills, preparing them for opportunities within the grooming industry and self-employment.
“Following the training, graduates will be free to seek employment elsewhere in the grooming industry or use their skills to establish their own barbering businesses.
“The objective is to train and empower them with a skill that they can use wherever they see an opportunity,” Mwatilefu said.
The initiative also contributes to the development and professionalisation of Namibia’s grooming industry by creating a pipeline of skilled young barbers.
“We believe that skills development can unlock independence, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods, particularly among young people seeking alternatives to formal employment.”
