The Oshakati Town Council has appointed a board of directors to oversee the operations of Oshandira Hotel (Pty) Ltd, a company which the council bought last year.
Oshakati Mayor Mr Leonard Hango said that the establishment of the board was an important step in ensuring that this Council’s asset is properly governed, protected and positioned for sustainable growth.
“We want Oshandira Hotel to become more than simply a property owned by the Council,” Hango said.
“We want it to become a performing investment, one that creates value, contributes to local economic activity, and generates sustainable returns for the benefit of our community.”
Mr Elifas Valombola, a financial and accounting expert, is the chairperson of the board, while Ms Grace Mungaviri, a legal practitioner, is the deputy chairperson.
Other members of the board are Mr Simon Williams, a hospitality industry expert, Mr Timoteus Namwandi, the CEO of Oshakati Town Council, and Ms Johanna Daniel, a town councillor of Oshakati Town Council.
The board has been entrusted with providing strategic direction, good governance and oversight, with particular focus on strengthening the hotel’s financial performance, improving its service offering and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.
