NamPost has opened a new branch in Nkurunkuru, expanding access to postal, financial, logistics and government services in the Kavango West Region.

NamPost’s manager for marketing and communication Mr Gladwin Groenewald said that the inauguration forms part of NamPost’s national expansion programme, under which 12 new service points have been established over the last 10 months, increasing the organisation’s national footprint to 148.

“These service points primarily support the distribution of Social Cash Grants, a function assumed by NamPost on 1 October 2025,” Groenewald said.

Speaking at the inauguration, NamPost Board Chairperson Dr Simeon Amunkete stated that the branch represents a strategic investment in financial access and underscores NamPost’s commitment to bringing essential services closer to Namibians.

The event also marked the public launch of new value-added services on the MyNamPost Banking App under NamPost’s digital transformation programme, Project Sky.

Customers are now able to purchase prepaid airtime, data, electricity, water and digitised PostPay Money Orders directly through the app.

NamPost Chief Executive Officer Willem Mouton noted that the upgraded app forms part of NamPost’s strategy to integrate its physical network with digital innovation, thereby improving customer convenience, enhancing financial access and reducing congestion at branches.

The event also marked the launch of NamPost’s National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative, which will provide selected community learning and ICT centres with computers, printers, Wi-Fi devices and other essential equipment.

The initiative is intended to promote digital and financial literacy as NamPost prepares to migrate cash grant recipients to formal bank accounts and support broader participation in Namibia’s formal economy.

The Nkurenkuru and Katjinakatji Community Learning Development Centres are the first beneficiaries, with additional centres expected to benefit in future.

Dr Amunkete further stated that NamPost’s long-term success is closely linked to the well-being of the communities it serves and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting an inclusive, digitally enabled Namibia.
