Oshana’s new governor, Mr Hofni Iipinge, was today welcomed to the office by officials from different institutions in the region.

At a ceremony that took place at the Oshana Regional Council, former Governor Mr Elia Irimari handed over the symbols of the office to the new governor.

Ongwediva Mayor Reverend Tarah Shalyefu, who read a scripture and delivered a prayer, said that the new governor’s appointment by the president was not a mere coincidence but a divine intervention.

“Her Excellency the President was guided by God to appoint you,” Shalyefu said.

The event was attended by the region’s top political leaders and family members of the new governor, as well as Oshana Police Commander Commissioner Lungameni Sakaria and several officers from the defence force.

Oshakati and Ondangwa’s deputy mayors also were present.

Former Governor Elia Irimari handed over to the new governor the office’s keys and documents such as the Namibian Constitution, an Anti-Corruption Commission document and the Namibian Flag.
