Vision is the beginning of success
By Victor Angula /
We are just a few weeks to another important occasion, which will be a time for all of us to pause and take a moment to go out to engage in the democratic process of voting for our leaders.
But it seems to show that we are all going to vote for leaders who have no vision.
It doesn’t matter where you look – or where you put your cross – you are not likely to see vision in the eyes of the people who have stepped up as candidates vying for political office. Those from the ruling party or those from the opposition, none has stepped up so far to let us see that here is someone who has a great vision for his/her constituency or town, or for his country as a whole.
And it’s a sad situation.
Vision is the beginning of all political and economic success. The greatest tragedy of humanity is to have leadership which has no vision. Nothing is more dangerous than leadership without vision. Leadership which has no vision is dangerous because leadership which has no vision can still lead. Leadership without vision leads into a ditch.
That explains the situation of so many nations which are in a ditch.
A lot of countries in the Third World have for ages been in a ditch politically and economically – poverty, corruption, instability, inequality, unemployment – because of nothing else but that there is a leadership crisis.
And this is not because there are no leaders, but because there are leaders who lead into the ditch. Leaders lead into the ditch because they have no vision – that is, they cannot see the way.
And unless the situation of leadership without vision is rectified, there is no way out of the ditch.
Indeed, it’s not only leaders who must have vision. All people must have vision, plans and goals for all small things and big things they intent to accomplish in their lives. Under the sun here in this world nothing gets achieved if people have no vision.
And so if people have no vision and their leaders have no vision either, all of them end up in a ditch.
True leadership begins with vision. To see farther than the average person could see, seeing into the future, seeing the possibilities of great achievement.
Our tragic situation is that we have to go out and vote for people who have not shown that they have vision for this country.
