A delegation from the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN), yesterday morning handed over a sponsorship cheque to the Namibia National Children’s Heart Trust.
The presentation took place at the Windhoek Central Hospital’s Paediatrics Ward and marks DBN’s continued commitment to supporting essential paediatric health services in Namibia.
The N$100,000 sponsorship will assist with the training of Namibian nurses through the University of Cape Town’s paediatric cardiac programme and contribute towards essential equipment for the newly renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Windhoek Central Hospital.
Speaking at the handover, Di-Anna Grobler, the Manager for Stakeholder Relations and Client Support said: “Our contribution to the Namibia National Children’s Heart Trust is more than a gesture of corporate social responsibility.
“It is a pledge of care, a commitment to capacity building, and an investment in hope.
“We believe that true development is human at its core; measured not only in roads built or businesses financed, but in lives uplifted, skills transferred, and communities empowered.”
She added that DBN deeply values the extraordinary work of Dr. Fenni Shidhika, the founder of the Namibia Children’s Heart Trust and a passionate paediatric cardiologist at the Windhoek Central Hospital, and her team in strengthening paediatric cardiac care in Namibia, calling it “a legacy of healing and hope for our nation’s children.”
