The Ohangwena’s athletics team received much-needed financial support from NATU Pharmacy to ensure the team’s participation in the Athletics Namibia Grand Prix Series taking place in Swakopmund over the weekend.
NATU Pharmacy (Oshana & Eenhana pharmacies) have given a whopping N$32 000.00 to the team.
“The money is earmarked for fuelling the bus, for food, and paying for accommodation to enable the team to participate in the upcoming AN Grand Prix Series starting on Saturday the 15 January 2022,” said Mr Teofelus Moses, the communication and marketing manager of Ohangwena Athletics Club.
“The team has decided on participating in five of the nine legs of the competition countrywide.
“Mrs Hendrina Hango the founder and CEO of NATU Pharmacy (Eenhana & Oshana pharmacies) made it possible to help the athletes to nurture their talents in participating and competing nationally which will boost their chance to qualify for the major international events.
“We really appreciate what Mrs Hango and the entire management of NATU Pharmacy have done. We are asking all inhabitants of Ohangwena Region to use the services of Eenhana Pharmacy in buying their medicines, and also their animal medicines and access other health services.”
The team which consists of 26 athletes and five officials is leaving for Swakopmund to participate in the first leg of the Series on Saturday the 15th January.
“We know it’s really expensive to travel and maintain the whole team, so we are still asking from Good Samaritans to help with the little funds they have so that we can be able to finish all the legs as scheduled,” Moses said.
“We still need more funds as we have to fuel a 65-seat bus ourselves and pay for the driver and S&T and pay for food and accommodation for the athletes and officials.
“Indeed the relationship between NATU pharmacy and Ohangwena Athletics Club has just started and we will have this partnership for many years to come.”
