Out of a total 80 teams, Pameiras Football Club emerged as the winner of the Top Score Oshiwana Tournament after overcoming Eshoke Chula Chula on penalty shootouts.

A pulsating and drawn-out penalty shootout separated the two teams only when the score became 12 goals for Pameiras as Chula Chula’s score remained 11 when their last shot was saved by Pameiras’ goalkeeper.

The tournament that started on Thursday saw all 80 teams playing 7-a-side matches at Uukwangula’s Embandu Stadium. Each match was played for 40 minutes.

By Sunday afternoon it was the semi-finals, where Pameiras defeated Katengela Football Club by one goal to nil in the first semi-final, while Chula Chula defeated Eleven Boys of Ogongo by three goals to nil.

Chula Chula faced Pameiras in the final, where the two teams failed to find the back of the net for the whole 40 minutes of the game.

It was Pameiras who started off well by scoring their first two penalties, while Chula Chula failed to score both their first two penalties. Yet the score card was levelled again when Pameiras failed to score their last two penalties.

As a result the penalty shootout went on a wire, with each team given one more extra shot at the goal. But it was a seesaw as either both teams scored the extra goal or they missed it. So that the extra goal was repeated again and again and again until Pameiras scored theirs while Chula Chula missed theirs.

And that separated the two teams with a score card showing 12 to 11 in favour of Pameiras.

Pameiras, who is based in Oshana and has players residing in Ongwediva and Oshakati became the winner of a trophy, golden medals and cash of N$10,000.

Chula Chula, who hails from Ohangwena, in the town of Helao Nafidi, settled for the second prize which consisted of silver medals and cash of N$7,000.
