A week ago Namibia’s search for the most beautiful teenage girl came to an abrupt end when the judges settled on a 17-year old Grade 11 learner by the name of Zoë Karsten.

Zoë scooped the Cinderella honours ahead of Jada Tati who became the 1st runner-up, while Jordan Strauss was the 2nd runner-up at an event that took place in Windhoek on 11 August.

The Afrikaans speaking meisietjie’s crowning was however followed by some controversial comments from the public since Zoë  took the crown from another Afrikaans speaking girl, Alexis Swart, Miss Teen Namibia 2021.

After her crowning, Zoë stated that she would inform and motivate the youth and people of Namibia to become blood donors.

“To me, donating blood is very important. I want to inspire the youth to join me and help save lives. You never know when it’s your turn to rely on someone else’s blood,” she was reported as having said.

To some this statement shows how far removed Zoë’s mission is from the daily lives of the majority of the people of Namibia.

“The last thing people of this country need is blood. People need food, clean water, decent housing, and jobs,” one commentator said. “People don’t need blood.”

Nevertheless, Zoë Karsten is bloody hot.
