The Police have reported that efundja flood waters have claimed two lives in Oshana region.
Police Inspector Thomas Aiyambo said today that two people have so far died in the water during the past few days.
The first was an 80 years old woman at Uudhengela, in the area of Omagongati.
“It’s alleged that an elderly woman left home on the fourth, that was Saturday, to go to the cuca shops, then no one knows when she left the cuca shops, but her body was found yesterday in the morning floating on the water,” Inspector Aiyambo said today at the Oshana Emergency Operational and Communication Centre in Oshakati.
He added that a 15 years old male had also lost his life in the water. “The young man was crossing the river to visit the nephew’s home, and in the process he drowned. So we got the report of the drowning and the police sent the divers who retrieved the body yesterday afternoon.”
The young man was a learner at Evululuko Senior Secondary School in Oshakati.
In total four people have lost their lives so far as a result of the flood waters flowing through some parts of northern Namibia.
