The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) and the Council for the Municipality of Swakopmund have signed a Strategic Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (SCPA) to establish a collaborative framework aimed at driving socio-economic development in Swakopmund.

The SCPA aligns the resources, expertise, and shared objectives of the two entities to enhance Swakopmund’s infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for its residents.

This partnership will also explore opportunities for public and private sector investments, fostering long-term positive impacts and laying the groundwork for the town’s sustainable future development.

The agreement focuses on identifying, developing, and implementing projects in key areas such as infrastructure development, public-private partnerships (PPPs), tourism, Smart City initiatives, and the promotion of local entrepreneurship, with a special emphasis on supporting SMEs.

Representing the Municipality of Swakopmund at the signing were Mr. Alfeus Benjamin, Chief Executive Officer, Alternative Chairperson of the Management Committee Councillor Wilfried Groenewald, and Mayor of Swakopmund Her Worship Dina Namubes.

The delegation from the Bank included included its Chief Investment Officer Ms Hellen Amupolo, Manager for Investments Ms Heroldine Carstens, and Erongo Regional Manager Mr Simeon Kahona.

This strategic partnership underscores a shared commitment to unlocking Swakopmund’s potential as a hub of economic activity and innovation, ensuring sustainable progress for the benefit of all its residents.
