Old Mutual Foundation’s Chair and Desk Initiative extended its impact in //Kharas Region, officially handing over 100 new chairs and desks to Aussenkehr Primary School and restoring 80 more for Kaitsi!gubeb Combined School.
This initiative, launched in 2023, aims to bridge the gap in classroom infrastructure by providing much-needed furniture to schools across Namibia.
Since its inception, the program has assisted 12 schools across six regions, including Kunene, Zambezi, Omaheke, //Kharas, Oshana, and Erongo, ensuring that more learners have access to a conducive learning environment.
Ashante Manetti, Marketing and Old Mutual Foundation Retail Manager, emphasised the importance of investing in education.
“At Old Mutual, we believe that every child deserves a comfortable and well-equipped classroom to support their learning journey. Through the Chair and Desk Initiative, we are not only providing furniture but creating an environment where young minds can thrive,” Manetti said.
“We are proud to make a difference in the lives of learners and will continue our efforts to support education across Namibia. We look forward to announcing the 2025 beneficiary schools and regions soon.”
Suzie Kadhikwa, Principal of Aussenkehr Primary School, expressed her heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the school community.
“On behalf of our learners, staff, parents and guardians, school board, the community, and other stakeholders in the grape valley, as well as our Directorate of Education, Arts and Culture in the //Kharas Region, we extend our deepest gratitude for this generous donation of 100 chairs and desks,” Kadhikwa said.
“The Old Mutual Foundation Chair and Desk Initiative sponsorship will not only benefit our school learners but also uplift the entire community and contribute to the development of our country.
“Your donation is more than just a chair and desk; it enhances learning outcomes, maximises the use of existing resources, and fosters a more sustainable classroom environment.”
Kadhikwa also stated that by focusing on rural areas, Old Mutual Namibia’s sponsorship highlights the critical role education plays in Namibia’s economic growth.
“Please accept our sincere appreciation. The impact of your support will undoubtedly improve the quality of teaching and learning at our school, and for that, we are truly thankful.”
Similarly, Magrietha van der Brooks, the Principal of Kaitsi!gubeb Combined School in Berseba, expressed gratitude on behalf of their school management, staff, and learners, recognising the significant contribution Old Mutual has made towards enhancing their learning environment.
