Olushandja Dam, in Omusati Region, is now at 61.2% of full capacity after receiving an inflow of 3.426 Mm³ during the past week.

Other dams across the country which received good inflows are Swakoppoort Dam, now at 39.9% of full capacity, up from 37.5%, with an inflow of 1.494 Mm³; Von Bach Dam which increased to 39.4%, up from 35.3%, after receiving 1.933 Mm³; Friedenau Dam, now at 46.9%, up from 45.8%, with an inflow of 0.071 Mm³; Otjivero Main Dam, standing at 3.5%, up from 3.3%, after an inflow of 0.020 Mm³; Hardap Dam, rosing to 24.3%, from 22.2%, with an inflow of 6.223 Mm³; and Naute Dam, which : now stands at 50.1%, up from 44.2%, fter receiving 4.924 Mm³.

“These inflows are a significant boost to Namibia’s water security, ensuring better storage levels across key dams,” said NamWater’s spokesperson Mr Lot Ndamanomhata.

“While this is encouraging, NamWater continues to urge the public to use water responsibly to sustain resources for the long term.”
