At the age of 33, Anna K. N. Hanai became a widow when she lost her husband by sudden death in 2020.
As she searched for videos online to help her navigate through her loss, she came across a video by Joel Osteen titled ‘From valley into victory’.
“It was from this video that I developed a burning desire to share with others how a darkest moment in your life can be turned into favour,” Anna says.
Born and raised in Ondobe in the Ohangwena region, Anna attended her junior primary education at Ofifiya Primary School in Ondobe. She matriculated at Ongha Senior Secondary School.
“Since there are no materials in our areas here to help people how to cope with the loss of a loved one, immediately after watching that video, I started writing, “ Anna states. “And in 2022, November, I published my first book, ‘From Valley into Gateway of Favours.’
“The book is an inspirational, motivational and yet spiritual book. It narrates troubles which come with favours.”
She says that the book has numerous lessons, such as on “never give up, be consistent, perseverance, bravery in decision making, gratitude, positive attitude and personal growth, and to stay calm in the storm.
“In short this book can be used as a guide on how to overcome adversity.”
Recently Anna republished the same book, and made it a second edition to the first version, where she added additional information in some chapters and also added some chapters like ‘Grieving the Loss of a Loved One’, ‘Counting Blessings’, ‘Adversity Brings Out Hidden Potentials’, ‘Stay Calm in the Storm’, ‘Our Valley Takes Us to New Levels’ and ‘Better influences’.
“It was in 2023, when I decided to write my second book, titled ‘Embracing Life’s Season After Loss’. This book is a powerful reminder that, similar to changing seasons, life’s challenges can be embraced with grace and purpose.
“It encourages readers to find strength in their pain, find their identity and value the beauty in everyday moments and turn even the darkest days into opportunities for growth.”
Through her writing, Anna featured in two books ‘Holding On’ by Victoria Haihambo and ‘A Widow Like You’ by Loide Kali.
“My writing aims at inspiring resilience, personal growth, and positive thinking. I use storytelling to uplift and console readers, with a strong focus on revealing God’s goodness in every life’s situation.”
She says that she will continue with her mission to touch hearts and guide others through life’s challenges.
Both books ‘From Valley into Gateway of Favours 2nd edition’ and ‘Embracing Life’s Season After Loss’, will be launched on 26 April 2025, at Odila Lodge.
