Namibia’s rising star and disability advocate, Alvarita Benedito Lucungo, professionally known as Alvara, departed yesterday for Nairobi, Kenya, to represent Namibia at the esteemed Inclusive Africa Conference 2025, running from 3rd to 5th June.

Born with Congenital Glaucoma, leaving her visually impaired, Alvara has never allowed her disability to define or confine her.

A gifted singer, songwriter, composer, and motivational voice, she has passionately positioned her art as a powerful medium for advocacy, social awareness, and healing.

Fusing R&B, Soul, and Afropop, her music speaks to the struggles, triumphs, and untold stories of persons with disabilities and African youth alike.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, Alvara holds a qualification in Community Counseling and remains dedicated to advancing in this field to further impact her community and support marginalised groups beyond the stage.

At Inclusive Africa 2025, organised by the acclaimed inABLE Africa, Alvara will deliver a live performance of her brand-new single “See Us”. The song was written exclusively for this year’s conference.

The song is a bold call for visibility, respect, and authentic representation for persons with disabilities, echoing the conference’s mission to build a more inclusive digital, creative, and socio-economic African space.

Alvara will also serve as an Ambassador for the Face of Africa initiative and participate as a speaker during the conference’s plenary sessions.

Her talk, “Youths in the Creative Economy: Gaps and Opportunities”, will spotlight the unique struggles faced by young creatives, especially those living with disabilities, while offering actionable solutions for governments, industries, and creative leaders to foster inclusive growth.

Joining Alvara on this important mission is Mr. Simalumba Nawa, Founder and CEO of The Blindspot Communication and Consultants. A motivational speaker, writer, and consultant, Mr. Nawa is renowned for his transformative work in reframing disability as a competitive advantage in leadership, the workplace, and business innovation.

His presence alongside Alvara strengthens Namibia’s voice in the African disability advocacy movement and highlights the nation’s commitment to progressive inclusion.

The Inclusive Africa Conference, powered by inABLE Africa, is the continent’s leading platform dedicated to digital accessibility and social inclusion for persons with disabilities.

The conference convenes policymakers, industry leaders, creatives, and global advocates to tackle pressing issues and drive collaborative change for an inclusive, accessible African future.

As Alvara and Mr. Nawa represent Namibia at this high-profile continental gathering, their journey underscores the nation’s growing influence in shaping conversations around disability, youth empowerment, and creative economic development.
