President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on 24 August officially opened the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair.

The week-long event started on 22 August and ends on 30 August at the northern town of Ongwediva, in Oshana Region.

Seen by many as Namibia’s premier trade fair, the 2025 Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair has attracted 450 exhibitors, 26 of which are from other countries.

Among the foreign exhibitors are Indonesia and South Africa. President Nandi-Ndaitwah singled out Indonesia as an important exhibitor who is the only country from another continent.

“A special mention goes to the Indonesian business people who, since the inception of the Ongwediva Trade Fair, have been participating, making this event an intercontinental experience.”

Nandi-Ndaitwah said. “Indonesia is the only exhibitor from another continent in the global south. I call on the Namibian business community to take advantage of the country’s interest in Namibia and identify business areas where they could partner with their Indonesian counterparts.”

Nandi-Ndaitwah was also happy with the presence of South Africa’s Limpopo Province at Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair, whose delegation of 30 individuals is being led by the province’s premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

“Your presence here gives tangible expression to the close cooperation committed to under the Bi-National Commission established between the Republic of South Africa and the Republic of Namibia.

“Furthermore, it reinforces the Memorandum of Engagement that exists between the Oshana, Ohangwena, Oshikoto and Omusati Regions in Namibia and Limpopo Province in South Africa, which focuses on a shared commitment to regional economic integration and collaboration for the benefit of our people.”
