The Okongo Village Council elected its new office bearers following the councullors’ swearing-in ceremony held on 5 December.
During the ceremony, Councillor Tuhafeni Nghidipohamba Pengevali Shapopi was elected as the new Chairperson of the Okongo Village Council. He will be deputised by Councillor Eunike Ndahafa Shinyongo, who was elected Vice Chairperson.
The remaining council positions were filled by Councillor Lasarus Shapwa, Councillor Anna Ndapandula Sheetekela, and Councillor Paulus Munalye Kapolo, who will serve as ordinary members of the council.
The swaring-in proceedings were overseen by Magistrate Diana Khama who administered the oath of office to the newly elected councillors.
The new leadership is expected to steer the council’s developmental agenda and provide governance oversight for the next five years.
