This year begins with hope and expectation

By Victor Angula |

As we all get back to our work places this week to start with a new year, most people are starting the year 2026 on a high, starting the year with great hope and expectation.

We are all hoping for a better year, better achievements, and more success in comparison to the previous year.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will this year make a full year in office and start with her second year of the term given to her by all of us. The economy must get into better shape this year so that there wouldn’t be any excuse.

We all will work harder this year. And we expect the system to respond positively and appropriately to our efforts. High income inequality and worker exploitation must start to keep reducing as from this year.

Those who are in government institutions or in big economic institutions must start now this year to be serious with the efforts to reduce income inequality by doing more business with small and medium enterprises.

There is now a new head at the Bank of Namibia, so that something must start happening there already this year to create a situation whereby economic inclusivity is realised.

Namibia is rich in resources, talent and potential. With today’s technological, scientific and systemic tools at our disposal, not to talk of Artificial Intelligence, there must simply be no excuse at all for us not to start lifting ourselves and our country out of poverty and underdevelopment.

This 2026 year must be the year.
