Isaak Matengu Njanji (25) from the Kongola Constituency in the Zambezi Region walked away with the N$500 000 grand prize at the MTC Summer Stars Campaign.

The MTC Summer Stars campaign concluded on Friday evening, where three lucky winners walking away with a combined N$800 000 in cash prizes during a grand finale handover ceremony in Windhoek.

Matengu, who earns a living repairing tyres in his village, described the moment as both overwhelming and deeply meaningful.

“I used to dream about this kind of money. For me, this dream has finally come true, thank God,” he said.

Matengu admitted that he initially doubted the call informing him of his win.

“I did not recognise the number at first. I saw two missed calls and decided to answer the third time. I was at work when I received the call and honestly thought it could not be real.”

He said he and his friends even checked to confirm if the number was indeed from MTC.

“When it showed MTC Namibia, that’s when it started to sink in. We were all in shock. I feel very lucky and excited to be in this position.”

Matengu added that he intends to invest the money wisely to secure his future.

The second prize of N$200 000 was awarded to Simon Sheya Shikongo (32) from Windhoek, while Klemencia Gaises Imerencia (20) from Outjo secured the third prize of N$100 000.

MTC’s communication officer Mr Erasmus Nekundi said that the campaign was intentionally designed with simple and accessible entry mechanics. Customers who recharged N$30 or more, or subscribed to selected MTC content services, received a digital scratch card that entered them into the competition.

Throughout the campaign period, customers also won daily airtime, weekly Maris Wallet prizes, and monthly smartphones.

Speaking at the event, the Manager of Digital Transformation at MTC, Nawa Likando, described the initiative as a celebration of customer engagement.

“Summer Stars demonstrated the impact of merging recharge and digital ecosystems through accessible, gamified participation. It showed how everyday usage can translate into meaningful reward experiences for our customers,” he said.

Chief Commercial Officer Octivius Kahiya confirmed that the winners would be offered access to independent financial advisory services to support them with financial literacy on managing their winnings responsibly.

In his vote of thanks, General Manager of Products and Enterprise Solutions Andreas Gustav expressed that MTC remains committed to transforming everyday customer interactions into rewarding experiences.

Gustav encouraged customers to stay engaged, noting that more exciting campaigns are on the horizon.

The Summer Stars campaign once again reaffirmed MTC’s commitment to rewarding customer loyalty and turning everyday usage into life-changing moments.
