Windhoek came alive this past week as Namibia’s brightest minds in branding, marketing, and communications gathered for the second edition of the MTC Branding and Marketing Indaba, an event fast cementing its place as one of Africa’s emerging platforms for creative and strategic excellence.

Held under the theme “Marketing from the Heart,” the three-day Indaba attracted over 400 delegates from across Namibia and the continent, including South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.

Backed by an investment of N$4.6 million, the event reflects MTC’s commitment to building a platform that not only elevates industry standards locally but also positions Namibia as a key player in Africa’s creative economy.

From the outset, the message was clear: this was about more than marketing; it was about meaning, identity, and ownership of narrative.

MTC’s Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, challenged delegates to rethink how Africa sees itself and, in turn, how it is seen globally.

“If we are to build an admirable African brand, we must start by changing how we see ourselves as Africans,” he said, calling for collective responsibility in shaping the continent’s story.

Across the programme, discussions moved beyond theory into practical insight, exploring authentic storytelling, brand purpose, digital transformation, and the growing influence of data-driven communication.

With 21 speakers from across Africa, the MTC Branding and Marketing Indaba offered both inspiration and actionable strategies, reinforcing the role of marketers as custodians of culture, perception, and progress.

Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Ms Emma Theofelus, echoed this sentiment, commending the platform for its contribution to nation-building and encouraging professionals to actively shape and strengthen Brand Namibia.

Beyond the sessions, the Indaba fostered meaningful connections, sparking conversations, collaborations, and shared ambition that will extend far beyond the event itself.

The momentum carried into a prestigious Gala Dinner, where the industry gathered to celebrate excellence.

One thing is for sure: the MTC Branding and Marketing Indaba is no longer just an event; it is a movement. One that is shaping a more confident, collaborative, and globally competitive industry.

With continued commitment from MTC to grow the platform and support the professionalisation of the sector, the future looks firmly on Africa, and Namibia is confidently taking its place on that stage.

Africa’s story is ours to shape, told with authenticity, conviction, and true Marketing from the Heart. The journey continues, and we look forward to welcoming you to the MTC Branding and Marketing Indaba 2027.
