The preparations for the 25th Edition of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) are nearing the end just in time for the start of the biggest exhibition event of the year in the north of Namibia.
Scheduled to take place from 21 to 29 August 2026, under the theme: “A Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Economy,” the fair will have 475 exhibitors, 36 of them will be international exhibitors from countries such as South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Angola, and Botswana.
“This theme encapsulates a holistic vision that promotes economic resilience, inclusivity and sustainability, while highlighting the importance of creating opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and communities to contribute meaningfully to Namibia’s economic growth and development,” said Chairperson of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair Society Ms Rebekka Hidulika.
Hidulika pointed out that the OATF 2026 promises a dynamic programme of high-profile engagements, entertainment, and business networking opportunities.
“Key highlights include the Marathon Inaugural Edition taking place on 22 August 2026,” she said.
“There will also be a Fireworks Display Night, on 22 August 2026.
“And the official opening ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 23 August 2026, by HE Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the President of the Republic of Namibia.”
On the safety and security of exhibitors and visitors, Hidulika said that security will be a top priority.
“The following provisions have been made: we have recruited 114 Professional Security Personnel, to be provided by four security companies.
“In addition there will be a 24-hour police satellite charge office on the OATF premises, and CCTV surveillance systems are installed throughout the premises and the trade fair ground.”
Hidulika pointed out that the exhibitors from South Africa will include a strong delegation from Limpopo Province.
“The South African participation includes a delegation of 20 enterprises from Limpopo Province representing a broad range of sectors, including manufacturing, construction, geoprocessing and food and beverage activities, textiles, cosmetics, technology and related industries.
“This will therefore be an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to network and link up with them and create opportunities for future business cooperation.”
However the organising committee has increased entrance fees.
“Entrance fees are N$30 for adults and N$20 for children, and N$20 for vehicles. The increase was caused by the general increase in the prices of goods and services, which is inflation.”
