The recently-launched Omaludi 4×4 Adventure Experience will take place on 26 September 2026 in the sandy vicinity of Okongo town in the eastern side of Ohangwena Region.
According to the organisers, the initiative is aimed at strengthening Okongo’s tourism profile, stimulating local economic development and showcasing the area’s natural and adventure potential.
But the initiative also has potential to be a big sporting event.
The initiative is the brainchild of the Okongo Village Council, through the Omaludi Agricultural Festival, and it is sponsored by Pupkewitz Motors, Tulaing Group, Okongo Medical Centre and Ombutu Campsite.
Beyond the recreation side, the initiative forms part of the Council’s broader vision of using the Omaludi brand as a platform for tourism promotion, investment attraction, business engagement and community economic participation.
“The launch has generated encouraging interest from established 4×4 communities, such as the Land Cruiser Club, Empire 4×4 Group and Amarok Club, signaling growing enthusiasm for the event and its potential to become a notable fixture on Namibia’s adventure and motoring calendar,” said Ms Joice Ueitele, Okongo Village Council’s local economic development and communication officer.
Ueitele added that “the Council is encouraged by the support from our partners and the interest from the 4×4 community.
“This initiative is more than adventure; it is about bringing people to Okongo, creating opportunities for local businesses and showcasing the potential of our urban centre.”
