Oshakati’s mayor Mr Leonard Hango was today re-elected to be the mayor for a fourth consecutive year.

His deputy, Ms Puyeipawa Elifas, was also re-elected to be the town’s deputy mayor.

Mr Hophni Mutota was re-elected to the position of chairperson of the Management Committee.

Ms Ruusa Frans and Ms Maria Mutumbulwa were both re-elected to serve on the town’s Management Committee, while Mr Jerobeam Ndaamohamba and Mr Aludhilu Pinehas remain ordinary members of the council.

The election, presided over by Oshakati Magistrate Ms Mozay Jansen, was attended by scores of people from some public institutions and members of the public.

“As I take on the honour of serving as a Mayor of Oshakati for the fourth consecutive term, I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude and a strong sense of duty,” Hango said.

“This fourth term represents not just a continuation, but a reaffirmation of our collective vision for Oshakati, a vision grounded in growth, unity and service.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for your faith and trust in me. Your continued support is what fuels my dedication to Oshakati and drives me and my fellow hourable councilors to work tirelessly to make our town a beacon of progress in Namibia.

“Serving as your Mayor for the past four years has been one of the great honours of my life, and I am both humbled and inspired to carry the responsibility forward.”
