Oshana Regional Council has secured N$800,000 to build 10 houses for low-income earners under the Build-Together Programme at Eheke Settlement.
The initiative reaffirms the Council’s commitment to improve living conditions by providing land to its residents, and supporting the government’s vision to deliver serviced land and decent shelter to all Namibians.
“It also demonstrates the Council’s dedication to uplift the standard of living of the inhabitants in the region,” said Oshana Regional Council’s Senior Public Relations Officer Ms Nuusita Ashipala.
“To date, the Council has successfully allocated 209 residential plots and 21 business plots at Eheke Settlement Area, paving the way for sustainable community development and local economic growth.”
Ashipala stated that the Council has emphasised that the Build-Together Programme remains a vital tool in addressing the housing backlog, particularly for low and middle-income earners.
“As a Regional Government we are proud to be part of the national effort to ensure that every Namibian has access to a decent home.
“The Council further urges those who have already been allocated plots to start constructing their houses to speed up development of the settlement area.
“The Council is busy with administrative work to prepare for the start of the project implementation in due course.”
