Namib Mills has partnered with MTC to support the MTC 4 Life 2026 programme, committing to sponsor the baking trade as part of the initiative’s youth skills development efforts.

Through this partnership, Namib Mills will contribute N$5000 per trainee, either in cash or baking equipment, over and above the standard support provided by MTC.

The sponsorship also includes the provision of a baking expert to lead the training sessions, as well as the necessary baking equipment and ingredients required for the trade. This support is aimed at strengthening practical learning outcomes and ensuring that beneficiaries are well-positioned to establish sustainable baking enterprises.

The MTC 4 Life 2026 programme focuses on empowering 30 youth residing in the ǁKharas Region, targeting self-employed and unemployed young Namibians with practical, income-generating skills. The initiative addresses youth unemployment by combining hands-on vocational training with entrepreneurial development.

Participants receive structured training workshops, starter toolkits, and a seed grant of N$5000 each from MTC to support the launch or growth of their micro-enterprises.

This approach is designed to strengthen livelihoods, promote self-reliance, and encourage meaningful economic participation among young people.

“MTC 4 Life is about giving young Namibians practical skills, confidence, and a real opportunity to earn a living,” said MTC Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo.

“By pairing hands-on training with starter support, we are enabling the youth to move from unemployment to self-reliance and active economic participation.”

For the 2026 cycle, the programme targets youth aged 18 to 35 years in the ǁKharas Region.

Vocational streams on offer include Hairdressing, Barbering, Baking, Leatherwork, Sewing, and Cell Phone Repair. The training will be delivered over seven days, with a minimum of five trainees per trade, and is expected to start in April 2026.

MTC continues to engage additional partners to support the remaining trades under the programme. Further sponsorships will allow the initiative to reach more young people in the ǁKharas Region, expanding access to critical skills that support long-term independence and sustainable livelihoods.
