Athletics Namibia congratulated Rössing Uranium for hosting the 2023 edition of Rössing Marathon held at the coastal town of Swakopmund 11 March 2023.

The marathon organized in conjunction with Swakop Striders Athletics Club (SAC), club registered with Athletics Namibia, saw a record of more than 800 athletes taking part in its original format competition for the first time in three years after the 2021 and 2022 editions took place virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

The marathon saw hundreds of athletes from across the country participating and making history in terms of the number of athletes that participated since the marathon’s inception 32 years ago.

Runners competed in the 42 km full marathon, 21 km half marathon, 10 km race and a 5 km fun-walk.

Athletics Namibia was also happy to learn that all the proceeds collected from the entries of the 5km fun-walk will go to the Cancer Association of Namibia.
