Motsomi Primary School, a school in the rural parts of Omaheke region, is not only an institution of academic learning but also a place for cultural performing arts.
This was displayed at the school during the handover ceremony of donations to the school by the NamPower Foundation earlier this month.
The school children performed several cultural dances, which included the Tswana cultural dancing, Ovaherero’s Onderera, and a display of the Ovaherero women’s Ohorokova dress.
The children’s performances showed that they are living in an environment where culture is still a living performing art, as opposed to children in urban surroundings where both school and house are robbed of any culture let alone performing art opportunities.
