Mutual Wealth recently sponsored N$20 000 towards the Pro-Ed Akademie Women’s Tea event held in Swakopmund.
The event, themed “You’re the apple of His eye,” is a celebration of women’s worth and resilience, and forms part of Pro-Ed Akademie’s 30-year anniversary of excellence in education, culture, and sport.
“This cherished annual gathering has become a cornerstone of community connection, bringing together women from all walks of life to share stories, laughter, and inspiration. With Old Mutual’s support, this year’s edition was especially memorable,” said Yolandi Murray-Fourie, Finance Manager at Pro-Ed Akademie.
“Old Mutual’s sponsorship is both an encouragement and an honour. It reinforces the value of community partnerships and reminds us that we’re not alone in our mission to create meaningful and lasting impact, both in education and also in the lives of families beyond the classroom.”
The event was headlined by Ilne Fourie, a celebrated South African writer, director, and comedian, with her one-woman show titled ‘Ag, my Moedertjie’.
“At Old Mutual, we believe in investing in communities where real impact happens,” said Wikus Fourie, Old Mutual Namibia Wealth Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“Supporting Pro-Ed Akademie’s Women’s Tea is about uplifting women, celebrating local culture, and reinforcing the values that bind us together,” he added.
In addition to the tea, Ilne Fourie hosted a drama workshop in collaboration with ATKV-Duinetak, aimed at nurturing local talent.
Initiated by Judith Labuschagne and De Wet Du Plessis, the Women’s Tea has grown into a beloved tradition.
This year’s milestone celebration is a testament to the power of collaboration, shared values, and the enduring spirit of Namibian women.
