The Governor of Oshana Region joined hundreds of people who congregated at the ELCIN Oshakati Parish yesterday afternoon to pay tribute to a man who started out as a freedom fighter but ended up living the last part of his life as a camera operator for NBC’s TV news.

The man, Eddy Eneas Tuhafeni Ngimwena, was described as a committed and hardworking camera operator, who was jovial and easy to be with.

The memorial taking place in Oshakati was organised by his former colleagues of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), and was attended by Oshana Governor Hofni Iipinge, Ongwediva Mayor Taarah Shalyefu, and former liberation veterans, family members and friends of the late Eddy who died after a short illness.

Reverend Nehemia Sheefeni conducted the sermon, describing Eddy as a man who had gone on a “highway” to eternity.
