The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) says that it has trained over 21 000 unemployed Namibians for consideration for the positions as polling officials of which the majority are youth.

“The training commenced on 7 November 2025 and concluded on 15 November 2025 at designated clusters across the country,” states Mr De Wet Siluka, the ECN’s spokesperson.

“All shortlisted candidates were assessed and only those that scored 60% pass rate and above have been considered for appointments as polling officials as per ECN recruitment policy.

“All successful candidates were ready for deployment on 23 November 2025 in respect of Special Voting on the 24 November 2025, and 24 to 25 November 2025 in respect of main Voting Day on 26 November 2025.”

The Commission has also trained and appointed 120 Constituency Returning Officers and 59 Local Authority Returning Officers.

“Overall, the Commission has recruited 21 000 election officials for the conduct of the 2025 Regional Council and Local Authority elections.”

The Commission has established 2,894 teams to serve 4,861 polling stations to ensure accessibility to voting.
