The Ongwediva Town Council today tabled a budget for the financial year 2026/27 totalling N$201,5 million.

The budget was delivered by the town’s Deputy Mayor Mr Jeremia Amutenya.

The budge consists of capital projects whose value amount to N$51,9 million and represents about 25.7% of the total budget.

The allocation of the budget to the operational expenditure amounts to N$126,8 million, representing about 62.9% of the total budget.

“The personnel cost ratio to the operational budget stands at 34.3% in compliance with the Ministerial Directive of not more than 40%,” said Amutenya.

“However, this ratio does not imply the availability of funds for additional personnel expenditure. The overtime budget of the personnel budget amounts to 3.09%.

“Furthermore, the maintenance budget amounts to 14.4% of the operational budget in line with the Budget Circular that directs a rate of not less than 10%.”

Allowances for Local Authority Councillors have remained unchanged.  But an amount of N$1,2 million has been set aside for the human resources development, representing about 0.9% of the operational budget.

“A provision of a total amount of N$350,000 has been made in the budget to cater for incidental cases, emergencies, and natural disasters, representing about 0.2% of the total budget.”
