The Namibian Professional Football League is yet to start, six months after last year’s season of football ended.
The 2025/26 season ended in April 2026, with African Stars clinching the league for a fourth consecutive season.
It has been six months since, without the announcement of a date for the start of a new season.
Meanwhile only a week ago the Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) and the Namibia Football Association announced a new record sponsorship amounting to N$90 million over three years.
The cheque handed over by Namport Board Chairperson Jerome Mouton to NFA President Robert Shimooshili was received by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who said that every dollar of the sponsorship “must be accounted for”.
In comparison, the English Premier League’s 2025/26 season ended in May 2026 and a new season started in August 2026, three months later.
