The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) hosted its second Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship Breakfast on 24 August 2026 in Oshakati, bringing together government leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, innovators, industry experts, and development stakeholders to explore opportunities within Namibia’s growing digital economy under the theme, “Unlocking Opportunities for Namibia’s Digital Economy.”

The event served as a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration on the role of digital technologies in driving entrepreneurship, innovation, job creation, and inclusive economic growth.

Participants discussed practical approaches to strengthening Namibia’s digital ecosystem and ensuring that citizens and businesses are equipped to benefit from the opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The breakfast featured presentations and discussions from leaders across the public and private sectors, including representatives from the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC), successful entrepreneurs, and regional leadership.

Topics focused on digital transformation, market development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and the critical role that connectivity and digital skills play in enhancing economic participation and competitiveness.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Emilia Nghikembua, CRAN’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasised the urgency of embracing digital transformation as a catalyst for sustainable development and economic prosperity.

“Digital transformation is no longer an option, but it is an imperative. As technologies continue to reshape economies and societies worldwide, Namibia must position itself to fully embrace these opportunities and ensure that no citizen, business, or community is left behind,” stated Mrs. Nghikembua.

Mrs. Nghikembua highlighted that CRAN’s commitment extends beyond facilitating connectivity and spectrum management.

She noted that the Authority is focused on creating an enabling environment that promotes digital inclusion, innovation, cybersecurity, stakeholder engagement, and market growth, in line with its Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP) 2026 to 2030.

She further stressed the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in building a resilient and inclusive digital economy.

“Meaningful participation in the digital economy requires more than infrastructure. It requires skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, cybersecurity awareness, and strong partnerships between regulators, government institutions, educational institutions, the private sector, and entrepreneurs working toward a shared vision for Namibia’s future,” added Mrs. Nghikembua.

CRAN noted that the event forms part of its broader efforts to support Namibia’s digital transformation agenda and create opportunities for entrepreneurs, particularly youth and emerging innovators, to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.

Through engagements such as the Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship Breakfast, the Authority seeks to facilitate collaboration, stimulate innovation, and encourage the development of locally driven digital solutions that contribute to national development objectives.
