Everyone and anyone can achieve whatever they set their minds to with discipline, commitment and time management.

This was said last Saturday by the Councillor of Okatana Constituency Mr Edmund Ishuwa at the launch of a book written by a member of his constituency.

The 211 pages book, by Ms Josefina Gabriel, titled ‘Listen to your heart’ was published in October 2022 and it contains 100 motivational topics.

“Today we are here to witness a momentous occasion in the sense that it is not everyone and anyone who can write a book,” Mr Ishuwa said in his keynote address.

“Writing a book is a major achievement, which only scholars and talented people can accomplish.

“The book which we are launching today is testimony to the fact that anyone and everyone of us can achieve whatever they set their minds to with discipline, commitment and time management.”

The Councillor further encouraged young people to not give up on their dreams despite the challenges they may encounter in life.

The book launch took place at the homestead of the young author’s mother at Ohailulu village, about 8 kilometres north of Oshakati.

The launch was attended by close to sixty people. Special guests included Dr Angula Ndjembo, a well-known author of Oshiwambo literature, and Ms Justina Shatonhoka who authored a book titled “How to Build Your Self-Confidence: the Ultimate Guided Journey”.

Shatonhoka, who delivered a speech on the importance of reading, said that she dismissed as untrue a popular statement which said that black people don’t like reading.

“A lot of black people and a lot of Namibians in particular love reading, they are out there,” she said. “It’s up to us the authors to look for them and bring our books to them.”

Entertainment at the book launch was provided by Onhanadi PPC Youth Choir, local artist Asser Hamundja, and Amon & Jason, while DJ Wizeni was at the decks spinning the music during the two hours delay before the programme started.

Ms Maria David was the director of ceremonies.
