The Kakurukouje Traditional Authority, in whose jurisdiction the Kaoko Fria Smart City will be built, has urged the Smart City project to go ahead with its planned multi-million dollar infrastructure developments.

At a small function in Windhoek, Chief Vemuii Tjambiru of the Kakurukouje Traditional Authority affirmed his approval of the project despite the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism last week saying that the Kaoko Fria Smart City project, which is planned to be constructed on thousands of square metres at Cape Fria/Agra Fria in the Skeleton Coast, has not received government approval.

In his latest remarks Chief Tjambiru called for unity and the progression of the development.

“This is my ancestral land. I give and approve 85,000 hectares to Michael Petrus, and grant him full responsibility and authority to build and develop the city for the benefit of our region and the entire Namibian nation,” Chief Tjambiru said while handing over another approval letter to Mr. Michael Petrus the Director of Kaoko Fria Investment (Pty) Ltd.

“Our children are suffering; they need jobs and proper housing. Namibians, I have given you this land. I invite every Namibian ethnic group to stand with my son, Michael Petrus, Director of Kaoko Fria Investment, in building this city.”

“I officially declare Michael Petrus and Kaoko Fria Investment (Pty) Ltd as the only entities approved by the Kakurukouje Traditional Authority to develop Cape Fria/Angra Fria. I release my blessings upon the Kaoko Fria Smart City.

“Namibians, register for opportunities in all regions. May the work on Kaoko Fria begin today.”
