How to handle bad times

By Josefina “Ndeshi” Gabriel

In life as a person you experience different things at different times. Most of those things are good, but sometimes they are bad.

When we were growing up we mostly only used to hear about adults talking about their bad times. But as we become adults we also start to live in those bad times. And too often we don’t see a way how to get through them.

So let us see what are some of those bad times common in a person’s life.

  • Sadness
  • Weakness
  • Poverty
  • Hatred
  • Rejection
  • Sickness
  • Death
  • Unemployment
  • Hunger
  • Depression

All these could be considered as bad times. My question to you is, are you one of those people who are today living under one or most of the above-mentioned bad times? Are you unemployed or living in poverty? Do you feel useless, rejected, and weak? Or is it depression, sickness and sadness you are experiencing?

If the answer is yes to any one of the issues on the list, you need to know this: hard times come and pass.

They will never kill. Bad times and hard times can be handled.

You can overcome them if you stand and speak over them that you are more than a conqueror.

Just believe in yourself and stop listening to other people’s words.

There is one pillar to lean on, your God. Go to church.

Share your problem with a trusted person. Don’t be shy to face it.

Love yourself and don’t blame yourself too much.

Exercise and drink more water. Listen to music and read stories.

Be positive and reject fear. Avoid wrong people and wrong places.

Don’t depart away from your family. Forgive and ignore.

Trust God and take him as your first priority.

Don’t be easily irritated. Be happy even if there is nothing good for the moment.

On many occasions you lose hope and think that you can no longer wait, and so you think of ending your life. But let me assure you that there are always good things waiting for your surprise if you hold on.

If you give up today, maybe your breakthrough was just close and about to happen, but because you end up being impatient you can lose your life and all that was meant for you in life.

We must know and always prepare for such times but let us not kill ourselves silently mentally, emotionally, or even physically because of these times.

Today, when you are facing the bad times, kneeling down to God asking for forgiveness, protection, healing and strength is better than ever.

So keep going and stand firm onward. You are indeed a conqueror.
