Be honest and trustworthy
By Josefina Gabriel|
Being honest is a treasure. And being trustworthy is an honour.
When people are looking for jobs, they write beautiful CVs where they state their educational qualifications, work experiences and references, hobbies and other personal details.
But the one most important personal detail which every employer is looking for is sometimes not included in the applicant’s CV. Employers are constantly looking for someone who is honest and trustworthy.
Educational qualification and work experience are necessary, but everyone wants to employ or be with someone who is honest and trustworthy. Companies want to employ people who are honest. Even the government wants to employ people who are honest.
In relationships people are looking for someone who is honest and trustworthy. Friendships and marriages are built on the foundation of honesty and trust. This is why to be honest and trustworthy is something that is more valuable than education, money, or other things.
But I realized something nowadays that while people prefer to be with someone who is honest, they still want to be with those people who are impressive by not speaking the truth, not knowing that honesty comes from speaking the truth and trust comes from honest behavior.
A good life is created through honesty and trustworthiness. This is not just a biblical truth but it’s something that everyone on this earth should understand. If you want to have a good life, a happy life, a successful life, then everything you do at work or at home must be done in an honest manner.
Of course it seems like it’s not easy to be honest in this world. If you work at a job where others are stealing or engaging in corruption, you will feel that they are becoming successful and living better lives while you’re not. But that’s just temporary success.
To be honest is to achieve permanent success.
You need to be honest to God first and to people you are surrounding yourself with, seeing that they will always need your back-up. But if not then the trust they have for you will break up, and your temporary success will disappear.
What painful words are in this statement: Trust is not easy to build, and can even take years, but it can take seconds to break and it can take even a lifetime to be repaired.
Be honest to avoid mistakes that can destroy you by bringing the trust to become smaller and smaller like an eraser. Honesty is the fastest way to avoid a mistake from becoming a failure, and remember that somebody who cannot take the truth seriously in small things can’t take it in big matters.
The secret of honesty is that it’s way far expensive and it’s hard and rare to have, but it’s highly rewarding in the long-term.
