Oshakati Town Council will not increase its tariffs on basic services in the next financial year which starts on 1 July.
The announcement was made by the town’s Mayor Mr Leonard Hango yesterday when he tabled the town’s budget for the year 2022/23.
“No adjustment and increase has been made to the tariffs structure in terms of basic services, such as water, refuse removal services, sewer services and municipal assessment rates and taxes, to mention but a few,” said Hango.
Hango said that the decision not to increase the costs which they charge on their municipal services to residents was made in consideration of the hard economic conditions the town’s residents continue to experience as a result of the global economic downturn compounded by the negative effects caused by Covid-19.
The Hango announced that the total budget for the financial year 2022/2023 is N$204,121,701.95.
