The Namibia Airports Company’s Ondangwa Volleyball Team won the Nedbank Volley 1st Tournament held today at Embandu Soccer Stadium in Oshakati.
The one-day tournament is an initiative between Connect People to People and the Far North Volleyball Association.
The volleyball games aim to bring the sport closer to the people, especially in corporate, ministries, businesses and other agencies in the Northern regions.
Out of the ten teams that battled it out during the group stages, NAC Ondangwa emerged as the winner after trouncing Medipark Ongwediva by 29 to 9 in the final.
As a result NAC Ondangwa walked away with the trophy, gold medals and cash of N$6,000, while in second place Medipark Ongwediva received silver medals and cash of N$4,000.
In third place was FNB Changeable who overcame Blue Navigators (Standard Bank). As a result FNB Changeable took the last cash on the table which was N$2,000.
In the two-a-side category Anna & Simon emerged as the winner and got individual trophies and the prize money of N$1,500.
The Nedbank Volley 1st Tournament is co-sponsored by Far North Volleyball Association, Windhoek Draught, Omulunga Radio and Coca-Cola.
