The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) and the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) have officially signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration across key digital and economic sectors.
This strategic partnership underscores their joint commitment to advancing Namibia’s digital economy, promoting inclusive participation, and strengthening public-private cooperation.
The MoU, signed on 30 July 2026 in Windhoek, formalises a framework for collaboration in vital areas such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), cybersecurity, digital transformation, e-trade facilitation, regulatory standards, legislative reform, digital literacy, and capacity building.
Both organisations recognise that harnessing digital technologies is essential for economic growth, competitiveness, and inclusive development.
Mrs. Emilia Nghikembua, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CRAN, emphasised the significance of this partnership, stating that, “This MoU marks a pivotal step towards building a resilient and secure digital environment in Namibia. By working together, CRAN and NCCI aim to empower businesses and citizens with the skills, trust, and infrastructure needed to thrive in the digital age.”
Mrs. Nghikembua further added, “Our joint efforts will foster innovation, improve cybersecurity awareness, and promote policies that support digital entrepreneurship, ensuring Namibia remains competitive regionally and globally.”
Mr. Titus Nampala, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NCCI, highlighted the role of the private sector in this initiative, stating that, “Digital transformation is not just about technology, but it is about creating opportunities for businesses of all sizes to grow and innovate. This partnership will enable our members to access critical knowledge, resources, and support to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”
Mr. Nampala also echoed that, “Through this collaboration, we aim to facilitate policy reforms, boost digital literacy, and promote e-trade initiatives that will open new markets for Namibian enterprises, especially Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), both locally and across borders.”
Furthermore, the MoU establishes a Joint Steering Committee to oversee implementation and ensure effective coordination. It is set to operate for three (3) years, with periodic reviews to assess progress and adapt strategies as needed.
Moreover, the partnership exemplifies Namibia’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation as catalysts for economic development and inclusive growth.
Both CRAN and NCCI are confident that this collaboration will significantly contribute to Namibia’s digital future.
