Last week Friday, 28 November 2025, Namdeb reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Namibia’s natural heritage through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT), to fund (N$280,000) the establishment of a patrol camp, in the Hardap National Park, that will serve as the operational base for the Wildlife Protection Service team recently deployed to the park.
At the handover event, Namdeb’s Environmental Manager, Nandeshasho Nickanor, stated that Namdeb’s purpose of Mining for Good, extends far beyond diamonds.
He further added that, “by partnering with MEFT to establish this patrol camp, we are strengthening Namibia’s frontline defenses against poaching and contributing to a shared national vision of safeguarding our biodiversity for future generations.”
Control Warden from the Ministry, Tashiya Joseph Tashiya expressed appreciation for Namdeb’s partnership by stating that “the protection of Namibia’s wildlife and ecological processes” requires collective responsibility.
“This patrol camp is not just an infrastructure, but a symbol of what can be achieved when government and the private sector work hand in hand to safeguard our national heritage.”
In the past, support has been provided to protect our rhinos through the Debmarine-Namdeb Foundation, a long-standing supporter of Save the Rhino Trust (SRT), investing in Namibia’s rhino conservation efforts through key contributions, including the donation of three Land Cruisers valued at N$1.5 million in September 2017 and a further N$1.1 million in 2019 towards the Rhino Pride and Rhino Ranger Programmes.
MEFT’s zero-tolerance approach to poaching, combined with strong partnerships between government, communities, and private sector players such as Namdeb, has been instrumental in protecting rhinos and other threatened species.
