Peter “Muambo” Ambambi the venerable Oshiwambo hymn composer and singer said he is still going strong and ready to give music to his fans across the land of the brave.

Muambo spoke to this publication about his plans for the year this week, saying he has great things in store for his fans and followers.

“I have been dormant for some time since the end of last year. But I have big things coming for my fans,” he said.

The Ontananga-born gospel artist stressed that he plans to release three albums this year: one solo album and two with two of his choirs.

“We shall hit the studio at the start of next month. The teams are ready, and I will be travelling across the country to promote the albums once they are released,” Muambo stressed further adding he was impressed that more young people are joining his choirs across the country stressing this was not the case before as many people seemed not to be interested in traditional church music before.

“We have a lot of young people in our choirs now. Typically, it used to be older people only. Now you can see that young people are also joining. It’s a good thing and I am ready to even teach them how to play the piano,” he noted.

Muambo slams disunity within the Namibian music industry calling it ’worrisome.’

“People, especially the young ones, don’t want to work together. I don’t know where the problem is.

“I think what they don’t understand is that one would scarcely make it alone in the industry because you cannot be a musician, a producer or composer at the same time. These people need to work together to bring up a quality product,” he elucidated.

The veteran composer and singer thus implored Namibian musicians across all genres to unite and work together and produce music with powerful messages that will touch people’s hearts.

He is one of the greatest gospel singers northern Namibia has ever produced. With over 100 albums under his belt, he releases solo and sometimes with his choirs who are scattered across Namibia.
