FNB Namibia handed over a block of two classrooms which was renovated at a cost of N$50,000.

The occasion took place today at Erundu Primary School, in Oshakati.

The school was established before Independence and served as a primary school for children from the town’s white community, but after Independence it became a school for all children from Oshakati East.

Over the years the school’s buildings became old and needing renovation. Recently the school, which was a combined school, was cut in two, and one part became a secondary school.

FNB Oshakati Branch manager Ms Toini Amakali who represented FNB at the occasion said that the occasion marked a meaningful step in strengthening the learning environment for Namibia’s future leaders.

“Today, FNB Namibia is proud to have been part of an initiative that has helped improve the school’s appearance, functionality and overall learning environment,” Amakali said.

“This support has gone towards refreshing one of the classroom blocks, both inside and outside, as we replaced notice boards and window handles.

“While these may seem like simple improvements, we understand that they carry a far greater impact than what meets the eye.”

Mr Immanuel Aron, the principal for Erundu Secondary School, who also serves as the acting Inspector of Education for Oshakati Circuit, stood in for the Director of Education in Oshana.

Mr Aron thanked FNB Namibia for the valuable support.

“We know that the economy is not that good, that is why we commend FNB for giving something back to the community. This shows that you are not selfish,” Aron said, adding that FNB was truly a friend of education.

Mr Victor Junias, the chairperson of the school board, also thanked FNB for “investing in the future of our learners.

“We can assure you that this facility will be taken care of,” Junias said.
