The problems of sewage water running across streets in Ongwediva is over after the Town Council spent N$3 million to improve the flow of sewage water from residential areas to the town’s sewerage dams
Today the town’s leadership marked this achievement by announcing the completion of work of two capital projects: provision of electrical reticulation networks at Extension 12, and upgrading of sewerage raising of main line from Pump Station No. 3 to the Oxidation Ponds of Ongwediva.
The work on the provision of Electrical Reticulation Networks started in December 2025 and was completed on 28 July 2026, at a cost of N$4,9 million.
On the other hand, the upgrading of the Sewerage Raising Main, started in January 2026 and was completed on 30 July 2026, at a cost of N$3 million.
“The completion of these projects is an important milestone for Ongwediva,” said Ongwediva Mayor Ms Naemi Amuthenu.
“Capital projects are at the heart of our mandate as a Local Authority because they translate our plans and public resources into tangible services and infrastructure that directly benefit our communities.
“For Government, completion represents accountability, responsible utilisation of public funds and the fulfilment of our service-delivery mandate.
“For our residents, it means improved municipal services, better living conditions and a stronger foundation for community development.”
Amuthenu stated that the Council of Ongwediva remains committed to accelerating service delivery, expanding essential infrastructure and creating a sustainable and economically vibrant Ongwediva for the benefit of current and future generations.
“The completion of these projects is not merely the completion of construction; it is the delivery of services, opportunities and a better future for our people,” Amuthenu said.
